I played a show with my new band last night, the REC set. We found the show through craigslist and the bands didn't really match our style (as if any band ever does!).
It was one of those blow out nights where the schedule is late and bands play/sound check for way too long. Basically, it was a rock show.
I had fun, the REC set sounded decent for our first showing, and given the fact that it was like 12:30am by the time we got to play, I think we had a fair amount of people watching. Which brings me to my next point...
As much as I tried, I could not for the life of me get anyone to come out on my behalf. Was it the late show? The weekday night? The fact that my "friends" don't enjoy live/loud bands? Is it my lack of connections with people?
OR, and this is the simplest answer (meaning it's probably the right one), maybe I just suck and should throw in the towel? This last one scares me the most, but growing up and getting wiser means seeing things for how they really are; calling a "spade a spade" if you will.
I got some thinking to do.
