I think the advent of social networks has led to the complete demise of meaningful human interaction. For myself, I'm consistently typing away on my phone or computer, updating my twitter or facebook, hoping that someone will respond to my idle thoughts. It's not like they're revolutionary in any way, they're just mine. They should be shared with another individual, but instead they're posted on a social network.
I ask, what ends are we as individuals trying to accomplish with these informal means of communication? If a tweet or facebook update goes unliked or not retweeted, did we even say it at all? Moreover, if we consistently live on social networks, are we really human in the first place?
My humanity is in question as I'm posting this train of thought to my blog and not telling this to another living person. I am what you've grown to loathe: An aging generation X'r who thinks their random musings are earth shattering.
